MY Top Wedding Photographers in Socal

I made this list back when I was trying to figure out WHO in the WORLD to hire as my photographer.  We ended up going with Robert Paetz, and he and Felicia were AWESOME!  You can see their blog of our wedding here!



But to see the research that led to this, here is another one of my crazy, over researched "Top" lists!



TOP 15 Affordable Socal Photographers
Looking for:
-After Session (could be an “Engagement Shoot” after the wedding)
-ALL high resolution photos on a CD or DVD
-6 hours of wedding coverage

1.       Micah & Megan Photographers
PACKAGE: #1 with After Session. Includes two photographers, wedding coverage up to 8 hours, private online gallery, and hi res digital images.
COST: $3700
RATING: 5 stars on Yelp out of two reviews.
PROS: You can get a photo booth for an extra five hundred.  Their work is superb. Looks like a fun couple.
CONS: Expensive

2.      Brant Brogan
PACKAGE: 6 hours package with After Session. Includes two photographers, wedding coverage up to 6 hours, private online gallery, and hi res digital images.  Engagement session includes 2 hours at several locations.
COST: $2525
RATING: 5 stars on Yelp out of 37 reviews.
PROS:  A lot of satisfied customers. Great after shots session. Pretty photos.
CONS: Mid-range.

3.      Michael Radford

PACKAGE:  #2. Engagement / after shots shoot (50 high res images). 6 hours of wedding (200 high res images).  Will include 600 images and 8 hours if we book by Feb 14.
COST: $ 2100
RATING: Can’t find any. Don’t remember how I originally found him.
PROS: Beautiful photos.
CONS:  Lacks testimonials online.

4.      Robert Paetz

PACKAGE:  6 hours coverage of coverage, two photographers,  private online gallery, and hi res digital images (usually 800-1000). 
COST: $ 2400
RATING: 5 stars on Wedding Wire out of 28 reviews.
PROS: Beautiful photos.  Good ratings. Two photographers.
CONS:  Are photos epic enough?

5.      Kaysha Weiner
WEBSITE: http://kayshaweiner.com
PACKAGE:  Collection 4, includes after session. Includes one photographer, wedding coverage up to 6 hours, private online gallery, and hi res digital images.
COST: $2200
RATING: 5 stars out of 12 reviews on Project Wedding.

6.      Scott A. Nelson Photographers
PACKAGE: Jared for the wedding and Scott for the after session.   Up to eight hours of wedding day coverage and all the high resolution wedding digital files on disk.  After session high res pictures.  (Other photographers are also available for less and more who have trained under Scott.)
COST: $2375
RATING: 5 stars out of 53 reviews

7.      Brian Fletcher

PACKAGE: Full Wedding Day Coverage with 2 photographers- High Resolution DVD of images- All images posted on your own private website for viewing and ordering. Engagement session.
COST: $2,800.

10.   Jen O’Sullivan
PACKAGE: I have 2 photographer coverage rates starting at $2,500 for 8 hours with an engagement session. Digital files (high res?)
COST:  $2500

11.     A & M Photography
PACKAGE: A la carte. 6 hours of wedding coverage, all high-res images, 1 hour engagement session (could we extend?)
PRICE: $1,850.

PACKAGE: One photographer, six hours of wedding coverage, 1 hour of engagement, all high-res photos, 30 page coffee table book, 9x6 engagement album, and 150 4x6 in an album. (Beautiful package)
PRICE: $1700 if you book by 2/14.
RATING: 5 stars out of 30 reviews.
PROS: Lots of stuff!
CONS: Pictures featured don’t seem as impressive as other vendors.

13.    Harvard Photography

COST: $2,000.

PACKAGE:  Base package: 2 photographer, 9 hours, hi res images, engagement session.

And by the way, it's funny looking at this list almost a year later.  I initially wondered if Robert Paetz and his wife had photos that were "epic enough." Now that I've worked with him (they won us over at Starbucks, they are SO lovely), I can say resoundingly: EPIC!!!
